The Great Tzararacua

I drew this for Berta Hernández. Poem by Berta Hernández The Great Tzararacua I have dreamed with the running waters of the great Tzararacua. I have seen the sun reflected on the sleeping mirror of Janitzio and Patzcuaro. I am there Ancient land Mysterious people Thousand butterflies It’s cold It is silent Where are you? Smell of mangos Tall trees Thousand butterflies I can see your smile And your little feet running through the mountains It is you And it’s me And it’s Camila We are the lost children of the mountain Who want to come back

2020 Quarantine Remembrance Coloring Book

As we approach "el Día de los Muertos / Day of the Dead," I am creating coloring pages to mourn the countless lives lost in 2020. An unthinkable number of people have died from COVID-19. Many of these deaths could have been prevented. Many lives have been cut short due to police brutality, systemic racism, homophobia, sexism and so many other acts of hatred, greed, ignorance and neglect.
